Running Asteris for WordPress Free and a paid Asteris licence together
Running Asteris Free and a paid Asteris licence together
Asteris for WordPress Free and a paid tier (Starter, Pro, or Agency) run together on the same WordPress install. You don’t uninstall the free version to install a paid tier.
How it works
Asteris for WordPress is one plugin file. The licence key activates additional modules within the same plugin.
When you purchase a paid tier:
- Download the updated plugin from your customer portal (it’s the same plugin with the paid module code included)
- Upload and activate, or let the in-place updater handle the swap if you already have the right version
- Enter your licence key in Asteris → Licence
- The 5 paid-only modules and full versions of the 5 lite modules appear in your module list immediately
Which modules are active at each stage
| Asteris for WordPress Free | After paid licence | |
|---|---|---|
| Modules toggleable | 6 (Code Snippets full + 5 lite) | All 11 |
| Licence required | No | Yes |
| Site limit | Unlimited | Per tier (Starter 1 / Pro 3 / Agency 10) |
| Updates | Via WordPress.org plugin updater | Via the plugin’s built-in updater (paid customers) |
| Support | WP.org forum + email (2-3 business days) | Email (2-3 business days Starter; 1 business day Pro / Agency / Founder) |
What happens if the paid licence lapses
If your subscription isn’t renewed:
- The 5 paid-only modules deactivate
- The full versions of the 5 lite modules revert to lite
- Code Snippets (free at full functionality) keeps working
- All settings and data are preserved in the database
- Resubscribing restores everything
Resubscribing after a lapse re-enters you at the then-current regular price. Founder-cohort locked pricing is conditional on continuous subscription.
